What is a Jet Ring Burner?

High heat jet ring burners have been around since the early 1900's and have proven to be one of the best systems for applications that require a great deal of heat.  These high heat, cast iron jet ring burners can produce up to 432,000 BTU of heat per square foot of burner area, require no adjustments, and develop temperatures of up to 1900 degrees F.   Unlike a conventional cast iron burner which has a burner head, a throat, and a venturi, these burners accomplish the mixing of the air and gas by air intake at the base of each brass jet.   The orifice is in the base of the brass jet.   The air/gas mixing begins in the brass jet and continues to the hottest part of the flame which is usually at a 10" distance from the top of the brass jets. Roofing contractors commonly use the big cast iron jet ring burners as roofing tar pot heaters and also for heating asphalt.

Imagine the uses of jet ring burners like this in outdoor cooking when you need to get a really BIG pot up to temperature right away. Our high quality cast iron jet ring burners are individually bench tested to insure they deliver serious heat like no others.  Don't soot up your pots using an inefficient jet burner.  A high quality jet burner has a longer burner life span and superior fuel efficiency, therefore savings.

How much distance should there be from the tips of the brass jets to the bottom of the pot

The distance depends on whether you are using High Pressure PropaneNatural Gas, or Low Pressure Propane:

►  The optimum distance is 10" using High Pressure Propane, (but a JetC10 is placed at 8").
►  The optimum distance is 6" using Natural Gasfor all jet burners.
►  The optimum distance is 8" using Low Pressure Propane, (but a JETC10 is placed at 6").  To get adequate volumes of gas in this case you must pipe the Low Pressure propane to the burner in the same size pipe ID as the entry pipe fitting ID on the jet ring burner.  In addition, it is recommended to use a twin stage low pressure regulator with a larger gas outlet on the regulator. Since the pressure is preset, all you can do to insure adequate volumes of gas is to make sure you use large enough pipe or hose to carry the required volume of gas to the burner.

Jet Ring Burners are designed to give optimum performance when the spacing from the tip of the jets to the heated surface is correct. Call 713.222.6095 if further information is needed.
